Kitchen Tea Theme: Breakfast at Tiffany’s
Choosing a Kitchen Tea theme is always a tricky part for a Maid of Honour or bridesmaid. If the bride-to-be is a New York glamour fan, why not incorporate this into the celebrations. Who doesn’t want to feel like Audrey Hepburn for a day? We chatted to New Normal, a young team of wedding coordinators to see what their recent Breakfast at Tiffany’s themed bridal shower was like and how they planned it all.
With a not-so-big budget, they had to pull out all the stops and outsourcing was not an option. So they got creative. The scene was set in a beautiful house that they filled with touches of Tiffany blue, pearls, diamonds and elegant white flowers. Everything straight from the classic movie scenes.

Tiffany’s Inspired Decor Ideas
The Tiffany’s jewellery store is known for a few basic colours, white, black and Tiffany blue (baby blue). These colours can be incorporated in various ways, from table decor to the colour of the cupcakes. Play the soundtrack of ‘Breakfast with Tiffany’s’ in the background or even the movie itself to create the right atmosphere for the kitchen tea.
If you want to be even more creative try and get hold of a few Tiffany’s ring boxes for your centrepiece. White roses will look lovely with a lot of pearl accessories. Another important accessory is a long black cigarette holder that is synonymous with the 1960’s. Make sure there is a lot of expensive looking tea cups and pretty cupcake plates. It’s all about the vintage feel of the event; add old suitcases, typewriters and classy lace underwear for the old glamour feel.
Creating The Setting
Guests were welcomed with champagne and blue lemonade, while French music set the mood. The dessert table was filled with blue and white deliciousness – from macarons, marshmallows and iced biscuits, to cupcakes decorated with edible pearls, roses and ribbons. Other items on the menu included flapjacks with crème Fraiche and smoked salmon, crustless quiches (gluten-free!) and heart-shaped waffles. They even provided the ladies with Tiffany-style photo props and the talented Sam from ST Photography took beautiful photos of the bride-to-be and her guests, as well as all other decor and food elements.
Salomi shares her experience with us: “Any bride dreams of her wedding day to be like a fairytale, but I was so privileged on Saturday, 25 May, to be surprised with a Kitchen Tea that I couldn’t even have dreamt of!! My bridesmaids, in secret, organised the prettiest, most special day for me, and when I arrived that morning, it took my breath away! The Kitchen Tea was held at my friend’s house in Kleine Zalze, the house itself is indescribable! It is stylish, elegant, and situated in the most beautiful surroundings, so incredibly suited to the theme of the day, Breakfast at Tiffany’s!”
Photo’s and pillows with Audrey Hepburn’s face was everywhere, delicious macaroons in white and blue, cupcakes with the most beautiful decorations, champagne with little blue flags and lemonade in the cutest glass bottles, with blue and white straws. Everything screamed elegance and beauty, everything was planned out to the finest detail! I can’t actually describe how I felt when I walked in there, I was completely amazed and overwhelmed! Together with that, the photographer, Sam, was absolutely brilliant! She captured every detail and made us feel so comfortable, yet like Stars at a photoshoot! I felt like “the centre of attention,” what more could a bride ask for!? There was a little photo corner with the cutest vintage props, crowns, red lips and even funky moustaches! The photos were taken so professionally and I am so incredibly grateful to have the day caught on camera! The New Normal team captured the theme of the day exactly, the decor, the setting and the food was presented beautifully and so delicious; we couldn’t get enough!
From heart-shaped waffles with syrup and cream to all sorts of quiches and tarts with salmon, goats cheese and pesto! It was perfection with every bite and sight. The day was planned and organised brilliantly, I couldn’t believe it was all for me! I cannot emphasise enough how special I felt.
There was a photo montage of me and my fiancé. And a fun bridal shower game where they asked my fiancé certain questions via video, and I had to give my answer to them before they played his answers! We laughed so much and I couldn’t help but get a little bit emotional about the beauty of all of it. I am so incredibly grateful for what my bridesmaids did for me. It was so much more than what I could have ever have thought of. There was so much love and thought that went into the day, I am so blessed! A thousand thank you’s couldn’t be enough!
