The agency is run by trailblazing Larah Eksteen, a ground breaking electro-acoustic violinist and singer based in Cape Town.

Urban Strings was officially formed in 2015 making their first appearance on IdolsSA finale to millions of viewers on the African continent, as an electric string quartet. Their maiden feature on LIVE TV was a resounding success and Eksteen decided to elaborate on the classic “string quartet”. Today the agency boasts with 14 professional music graduates who switches effortlessly between their classic acoustic instruments and modern electric renditions.

Urban Strings offers a variety of packages for all wedding or event formats and budgets. They provide music coordination and management for the following options:

Acoustic Ensembles- Performing well-known covers arranged for strings and light classics, their ensembles are very popular upon guest arrivals, during wedding ceremonies and/or pre-drinks and dinner sets. Song requests welcome.

Cape Town Flo – is perfect for a vibey and sophisticated atmosphere. This eclectic duo performs regulary at wine bars and tastings, pre-drinks at weddings, sunset hour for parties and arrival/dinner sets at corporate events.

Electric Strings – A modern take on the classic ensemble. All the musicians are music graduates and full time professional players. Book a duo, trio, quartet or 5-piece option and add a trendy sound to your event.

Jazz Musicians – With over 500 Jazz standards to choose from, our Jazz musicians can play for up to 4 hours as a duo, trio or 5-piece.

Solo Artists – Soloists is a budget friendly option for any event. Book a violinist, cellist or saxophonist that will compliment a smaller event with a laid-back and relaxed atmosphere. The musicians feature in the background and adds a subtle ambience to gatherings.
