Description

Versatile Electro-Acoustic Violinist & Singer

Looking for something unique and Contemporary for your wedding? As a multi-disciplinary creative that started playing the violin at the age of 3, graduated with two first instruments, performed abroad, studied music production in London, composed and produced for film and television and created platforms for young and upcoming string players; Larah has carved her way through the many spheres in the music industry. She has performed as professional violinist in the entertainment industries since her student days. Hailing from a small town, her violin has taken all over the world, from graduating at the University of Pretoria, to being an orchestra member of The Cape Philharmonic, touring the Baltic and studying music production in London.

Larah is one of South Africa’s most progressive electro-acoustic violinists switching effortlessly between multiple-genres. She collaborates on a regular basis with with Jazz, Folk, RNB, Electronic and Pop artists.

“Larah Eksteen …violin, voice and beats in one package. A superstar violinist from Johannesburg” – Angola Nel.”

Since 2010 Larah has purposefully positioned string instruments in modern genres of the 21st century and performed on seven LIVE episodes of IdolsSA alongside winners Noma Khumalo and Karabo Mogane. With her contemporary electric violin in hand, she has also shared the stage with SA favourites such as Somizi Mhlongo, Judith Sephuma, J’Something (MiCasa), Donald Moatshe and DJ Tira.

Now in 2020, Larah has returned to Cape Town and is committed to continue with the next chapter of her story. She is no stranger in town and has performed for the opening of the CTICC, at 3 Kirstenbosch Summer Concerts, for Sir Elton John, Cape Town Fashion week and top management of Naspers. Larah’s story continues with serenading wedding couples in the beautiful Cape, that is home… once again.

She recently released her 4th solo Jazz album available on all major platforms.

“With this album she stuck with Jazz. Having proved her salts-worth in the classical music arenas; it is a natural evolution that Larah would go on and explore other genres. Miss Eksteen can stand her own ground and most certainly does. The vocals are crystal clear and kept rooted to the original which unapologetically contrasts with effortless violin chops and impeccable improvisation.Take Four is a beautiful trip down memory lane.” – Helderberg Gazette
