A dream team of Pink Book vendors collaborated on Dark Romance Wedding Inspiration to showcase the ornate and opulent venue, Simon’s at Groot Constantia. A last burst of creativity before the wedding season kicked in to reveal vibrant wedding trends & ideas.

The Inspiration

“We had been conceptualising a feather and pearl styled shoot for some time but all the elements hadn’t come together until we walked into the venue, Simon’s at Groot Constantia and both Carmen from Two Cherries and myself knew instantly this was the venue to pull off the glamour and drama that we had in mind.” Jacqui from Lily & Wild Photography. The venue needed very little in the way of décor and flowers as it is very ornate in design with plush chairs in dusty pinks and blues and bold floral prints on the walls.

There are a lot of trends focusing on the use of feathers, fluff and pearls for weddings in 2023 so this was the main inspiration behind this shoot. What these, all white elements bring is texture, so we focused on including some or all these elements like a faux fur runner adorned the table which was complimented by gold decor, the use of feathers in accessories and pearls on the shoes and cake.

“My inspiration for this shoot was to keep the make-up soft with warm tones. Beautiful terracotta eyeshadows with peachy creme blushes and dewy berry lip stains for the ladies make up and textured hair for the men.”

The Wedding Cake & Dresses

Samantha Liang Cakes went old school drama with a four tier all white cake embellished with pearls and delicate flowers. The showstopper was the main wedding dress, simple understated elegance in white satin with an accent of pearl detail on the shoes. A second reception dress adorned with an Ostrich feather shoulder wrap made the perfect party dress.

“My inspiration for this shoot was adding texture through feathers! The feather and pearl brooch and feather and stone earrings. I love adding some bridal classics like pearls with something unexpected like an ostrich feather. Whimsical but beautiful.”
