The wedding venue plays a huge role on your wedding day. It is easy to be swept up by your emotions once you’ve found your dream venue but Aleit Swanepoel from Aleit Weddings strongly suggests that you fully “study that [venue] contract to perfection; even if it takes two or three bottles of wine. Make sure that you read every single line.”
TERMS & CONDITIONS
Ensure you know exactly what is included in the venue hire and what is not included. It is always great to get a venue that offer items like reception tables, chair, cutlery and crockery. This will lessen your hiring costs. Also be sure to find out the additional charges for things like waitrons, after hour charges, catering, cleaning charges etc. as this can come as quite an unexpected cost you did not consider.
Another important element to look out for is what the venue will be able to offer should the weather not be idle for an outside ceremony. “Ensure that plan B and C is just as good as plan A. It is possible, with everything on offer here in South Africa.”
A big thing that needs to be considered before booking your wedding venue is the noise restrictions. Venues have become so strict, that 2AM is the absolute cut-off time for music. In other neighbourhoods where there are residents in the area, 12AM is the cut-off, where 10PM the music has to be turned down. At certain venues you can party until 4AM in the morning, but then you are looking at venues that are far from the city. Look at venues that are located on private farms.
Each venue has their own, unique terms and conditions. It is important to ensure you are aware and satisfied when every single one before signing any contract.
