Top Wedding Songs
We are sure that you’ve daydreamed about that perfect song to accompany every part of your wedding day. Here is a brilliant blog of the Top Wedding Songs!
Like Shakespeare said, “If music be the food of love, play on.” Your main song selection plays a crucial part in your wedding and Southern Sound has been so kind as to write this blog to identify The Best Weddings Songs of All Time but also some that need to be put in the archives. From deciding if you and your bride-tribe will walk down the aisle on the same song to throwing your bouquet on any song; except single ladies. Every moment needs a song, so let’s throw some confetti in the air and celebrate!
Our biggest advice is to, “…stay true to your style and your favourite songs!” Make sure you include songs that mean something to you and your partner. A fond memory of your first date, the song you danced to in your first home together or just that one jam from the 90s that you can’t get enough of!
Southern Sound states that your day consists of approximately 9 main songs, from walking down the aisle to throwing your garter. Remember, have some fun while choosing your tunes. Here are some of the TOP wedding songs and ideas for your big moments.
1. Ceremony
For the ceremony the Piano Guys are always a classic option to choose while your guests arrive and your husband-to-to with his groomsmen walk to the front of the alter, zooming with excitement to see you! A top choice for the pre-ceremony is any instrumental version of classic romantic songs. This sets the tone perfectly and still allows for guests to say hello and share in the excitement.
If you’ve been at a wedding in the last 2 years you are sure to have heard an Ed Sheeran or Christina Perri songs while the bride tribe walk down the aisle. Let’s put that in the archives and select a song with true meaning to your relationship and celebrates the union of two lives. Some great suggestions would be:

It’s not necessary to have a song for every part of your day, but you can have a track for signing the certificate or even the moment your minister says: “You may kiss the Bride.” Some cool choices for this are Somewhere over the Rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole | Home by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros | La Vie En Rose by Lucy Dacus
For confetti, you can choose if you want the Hip Hip Hoorays of your guests, or opt for something fun and upbeat like:
Walking on Sunshine by Katrina & The Waves | Best day of my Life by American Authors
2. Pre-drinks
Pre-drinks are when the “party starts” and you want your guests to talk all about how beautiful you are as a married couple; all while sipping on champagne and eating delicious canapés. For pre-drinks it is important to play the music that has a bit of an upbeat tempo to get guests in the mood to party once moving into the reception area.
From Lady Zamar, Johnny Clegg to some good old Mango Groove, Jack Johnson, the list goes on. And then, of course, some Bob Marley, Travelling Wilburys, Michael Jackson, Elvis, etc. You want to make sure that your older guests are also entertained, but new modern music always works awesome in between it all like One Republic, Mumford & Sons and Jason Mraz.
3. Reception
The reception is the first moment that you walk in as Mr & Mrs, so this one needs to be loud and big! “Please stand up and welcome Mr & Mrs….for the first time as husband and wife”…The crowd goes wild! Some great options are:

Some of Southern Sounds front-runners are: If I ever saw heaven by Roan Ash | Perfect | Thinking out Loud | The One by Kodaline | Lover by Taylor Swift
A new trend is that brides choose to open the dancefloor with their father & daughter dance. It’s quite a privilege if your dad can give you away to your husband for that very first dance together.
These ones are not overplayed and really special: Heartland – I loved her first | Sweet Child o Mine by Jasmine Thompson | Dance with my Father by Luther Vandross
Calling all the single people to the dancefloor is one of the highlights of your night; so why not make it awesome. For the bouquet toss – PLEASE no more Beyonce, Single Ladies! Rather Dames by Biggie – Love it or hate it…you can’t get away from it! And for the garter make the song a longer one, because if you’re going to prank your hubby; the song must be at least 5 min long. Let’s get it on by Marvin Gaye | Pony by Ginuwine | Another one bites the dust by Queen | Can’t touch this by Mc Hammer
