In this video, we learn about Cara-Lee from Mosaic Weddings in Cape Town.
Meet Cara-Lee, Professional Wedding Planner in Cape Town
Cara-Lee has been in the wedding industry for over 11 years now. Starting out as an avid wedding photographer but systematically moving into the coordination side of things. She found her passion in coordinating weddings and officially kicked off her career as a professional wedding planner seven years ago.
She offers a complete wedding planner package – any service you need, she will do for you. And if there is something she can’t do, she knows someone who can. Building up relationships with reliable service providers in the wedding industry for 11 years gives her an advantage.
To Cara-Lee one of the most important elements, when it comes to wedding planning, is trust. Trust and open communication are the key factors in planning an amazing wedding. Her clients need to trust her, as a professional events planner, to know what she is doing. And she needs to be able to trust that her service providers will work with her and deliver on the big day.
With her client base being mostly international couples, the trust factor is even more important. They need to be able to put all their faith in her, as their main contact in a foreign country. To know that she will deliver what they need and want for their destination wedding in South Africa.
The Most Important Vendors to Book First
Once a couple has decided on using Mosaic Weddings as their planner, it is time to get down to work. According to Cara-Lee, the first and most important decision to make is the wedding date. Once the couple has a date in mind, she sets out to find vendors who are available and fit their needs. After the date and venue are confirmed, they immediately start looking for the following:
Decor & Hiring
Music & Lighting
These are important vendors that Cara-Lee would like to have booked and set in stone as soon as possible. Afterwards, the smaller elements of the wedding such as the cake, entertainment, etc. can be sorted out and fit into the budget.
Most Elaborate Destination Wedding in South Africa:
One of Mosaic Wedding’s most elaborate weddings was a 3-day celebration coordinated for a lovely couple from Hong Kong. They decided on Cape Town for their destination wedding and flew all their guests over for the celebration. The couple, along with their guests, stayed at Vrede en Lust in Franschhoek for the duration. What made this such a memorable wedding was the spirit of the couple. They were fun and completely open to Cara-Lee’s suggestions for everything. She had the creative freedom to create a stunning setting for their big day. The reception venue had beautiful gladiola and naked bulbs hanging from the ceiling. But other than the usual weddings in this style, the theme colours were not the standard white and green. This wedding theme focused on deep and warm shades of maroon and red brought out by lush floral arrangments. The flowers were accentuated with the natural warmth of a host of candles and other lights. Truly a wedding to remember.
Large International Wedding in Zambia:
A recent, challenging wedding for Mosaic Weddings was a grand event held in Lusaka, Zambia. What made this such a unique and new experience was that the wedding needed to cater to 800 guests! Such a large wedding meant a massive amount of responsibility placed upon Cara-Lee as the wedding coordinator.
Not only was this their biggest wedding to-date, it was also taking place in a different country, where Cara had never been. Luckily Mosaic Weddings had an amazing team of reliable wedding vendors and professionals who helped execute this huge international wedding. Planning weddings for international clients also means learning to understand and adapt to cultural differences. It was vitally important that the Mosaic team be respectful to all the guests in attendance.
This wedding was a unique challenge for Cara and she acknowledges that she would never have been able to pull it off without the help of the team of professionals around her.
