13 Fun Bachelorette Party Ideas

One of the most exciting parts of getting married for any bride-to-be is no doubt her bachelorette party! But planning this anticipated weekend? Gulp – someone, please help! Making sure that the entire bridal crew has a blast can be, well…  a little bit daunting. There’s nothing wrong with consulting the bride if you’re totally stuck with bachelorette party ideas. Keep in mind that everyone is different, some ladies would love nothing more than a crazy girls night out while others would prefer a peaceful weekend away. At the end of the day, you know your bestie better than anyone else, so just go with what you know she’ll love and enjoy.

Here are some fun bachelorette party ideas that don’t just include a night of drinking (although all of them include some sort of drink – don’t judge us).

1. If she loves adventure, take her on a road trip

Who doesn’t love a good old-fashioned road trip? We are incredibly lucky to live in one of the most beautiful countries in the entire world, so pack a bag, buy some snacks and make a playlist for the road ladies! We’re going on an adventure! If you are starting out from Cape Town’s side, we suggest hitting the Garden Route. There’s so much to see, so much to do and it won’t cost you a fortune if you book into the quaint little backpackers along the way. From Joburg’s side, hit up the Waterberg area for some lush, beautiful natural scenery. And take a camera (or just your phone, whatever) to snap some amazing pics!

2. Solve some mysteries at Hint Hunt escape room

Looking for something different to do for the bridal shower? Why not go solve some mysteries in a live escape room game! Hint Hunt offers some amazing, puzzling and hilariously fun rooms for you and your group of girls to escape from. Trust me, there will be shouting and panicking and brain-wracking problem-solving. This is a very fun game that is suitable for all ages – so if your bride would like to include her mom, grandma and aunts this is a safe and fun option. Who doesn’t like to feel like a genius when you finally get the door to the room open with 10 seconds to spare? Hint Hunt is now available in Cape Town and Johannesburg.

3. If she loves to be pampered, take her to a spa

Not every bachelorette party has to be a rowdy night on the town (unless you want it to be), especially if it’s closer to the wedding day. Book a spa day for the girls – facials, massages, manicures and pedicures -yeah, that sounds about right. Tip: drinks lots of water in order to stay hydrated before the big day.

Girls night, girls night! There is nothing about Beefcakes that is not awesome. Their cocktail and food menu is super tasty and delicious. What’s even better than good food and drinks? Good-looking boys bringing them to you. Yes, the waiters are all easy on the eye, ladies.

How it works: they have a different theme every night, so pick the day that would be most suited for you and make sure to make a booking!

5. If she loves to sing in the shower, take her to a Karaoke Bar

Karaoke is a great way to let off some steam and let your inner Britney roam free. It is fun and can be tailored to suit each of the bridal crew’s unique personalities and tastes. You can have dinner and drinks along with a karaoke night as well which will include the girls who don’t necessarily want to stand on a stage and pour their hearts out to a bunch of strangers.

If your bride is outgoing and loves to perform, a standard karaoke night at a bar is fine. But if she is shy and reserved, but still likes to sing; why not go for a private karaoke booth? These private karaoke rooms or “noraebang” are more comfortable, you can select your own songs and everyone can shout, sing and dance as much as they want! The perfect place to let loose your inner rockstar.

6. Bring out her inner adventurer by organising a fun scavenger hunt

Bring out your besties inner adventurer by organising a scavenger hunt for her with her closest friend and family. You can incorporate some of her favourite items, places and memories in the scavenger hunt and in the clues.

7. If she loves adrenaline, take her zip-lining

Always wanted to go zip-lining, parasailing, shark cage diving or maybe even bungee jumping? Think of the bachelorette party as an opportunity to try something new. What an exciting way to jump into married life! Keep in mind that this might not be a suitable activity for all the guests, but if they are willing to take a risk, why not? South Africa has got some amazing zip line locations like the scenic Magoebas Kloof canopy tour line in the image below.

8. If she loves a night at home, have a slumber party

Okay, okay – we know you’re not in middle school anymore, but an old-fashioned girls night filled with some rom-com movies, junk food, and adult-only drinking games sounds like a good time to us at any age. Truth or Dare and Never Have I Ever will bring you back to simpler times. Plan an all-out sleepover and make sure you have enough blankets and snack foods! This is a cost-effective and super fun bridal party idea.

9. If she loves the water, take her out on a boat for the day

Rent a small speedboat, or plan a river-rafting trip and take your friends out for the day. Not only will it give the bride a chance to get a bit of a natural glow started before the honeymoon, but you’ll also have plenty of time to bond out on the water. Coordinate cocktails accordingly, an ocean breeze pairs perfectly with tropical juices and rum. Don’t have a boat? A floaty on the pool sounds like heaven to us.

10. Combine fitness and fun with some pole dancing lessons

There are many dance studios that offer pole dancing that offer in bachelorette party packages! Pole dancing is a great idea because it’s a serious workout, it’s lots of fun and its the perfect way to make the bride feel sexy for her big day! To make it a fun event, you can have the whole bridal party join in on a trial lesson. Everyone can have a great time practising as a group, and if the bride likes it she can choose whether she wants to continue with the lessons.

11. If she’s a nature lover, take her glamping

Tired of the same old bachelorette party ideas? Get the girls together for a luxury weekend escape. We’re talking about a cabin in the woods or a chic chalet in the mountains. Throw in some fun bachelorette party games and a day trip to a spa for some serious chill time. Essentials to bring along: biscuits, marshmallows and chocolate sauce…Did anyone say smores and red wine by the fire? Yes, please!

12. If she’s GINcredible, take her on a gin tour

Kiff Kombi Tours offer an amazing Cape Town gin tour that includes a local guide/party host and transport, 3 x gin tastings/pairings at different distilleries, party snacks as well as 1 x gin cocktail at Secret Gin Bar. This sounds like an GINtertaining way to get the party started! Cheers to the bride!

13. Winemaker for a day? Wine not!

Looking for a unique experience to treat the bride? Take the bride-to-be and all the girls on a workshop at Café Franschhoek Bistro & Wine Bar to create their own wine. You will learn how wine blending is done and you will cork, capsule and label your own bottle. Grab your bottle-openers and let’s start blending ladies!
