An elopement, as written by the beautiful bride – Lindsay
Before this all happened I was living in the Netherlands. Halfway through my studies, I had the opportunity to go abroad for an internship and I chose Stellenbosch. That’s where Ruben and I met.
After three months I left South Africa to continue my studies in the Netherlands. Ruben and I kept in touch over the phone and became very close. After travelling back and forth for two years we couldn’t see a future without each other anymore. That’s when we decided to tie the knot.
Choosing a venue wasn’t quite the challenge for us. We both love to be in nature listening to the sounds of the ocean so the decision was quickly made. The winter tides created a magical secluded beach between the picturesque rocks on Glen Beach and the soothing ocean. Having the mountains, ocean, waxing gibbous moon and colourful sunset sky as the backdrop for our winter beach wedding.
As we wanted to keep the wedding as intimate as possible we decided to keep our plans private. I think this made us have one of the smallest guest-lists with only five guests of the groom and five guests of the bride attending. Having an intimate wedding was such a precious experience for us all. We wouldn’t have had it any other way!
Looking back at the photos Coba took of that day still mesmerizes us. She knew how to capture the beauty of that day in frame. Thinking that the weather forecast prepared us for a stormy winters day on the beach. We were blessed with the most beautiful sunset sky that weathered the storm!
Many thanks to Fynbosch flora for making the beautiful flower arrangements and helping me walk down to the beach. Calegra bridal house for supporting me in finding a dress when my family and friends were 14.000 km away. Peach Cronje for the pre-wedding support and beautiful romantic hair & make-up. And of course the talented Coba and Ilse with their calm, positive and loving words behind the cameras.”
