This gorgeous couple opted for a vegan afternoon picnic wedding at the ever so stunning De Meye Estate in Stellenbosch.

Carrie and Jason met while in Korea. When asked how Jason won Carrie’s heart he simply said; “Nothing could get her attention until I sang “under the sea” from The Little Mermaid at our local bar. After that Carrie was sold”.

This was Strawberry Wedding and Events first wedding since lockdown, and the team was very excited to assist with this small and intimate boho style picnic wedding.

The wedding ceremony was held in the veggie garden where lush floral, greenery, tree’s and veggie’s formed part of the ceremony décor.

As it was an afternoon affair, they didn’t have pre-drinks but rather went straight into the wedding picnic where they set up picnic pods for the wedding reception for guests to relax on the lawns, enjoy a delicious picnic basket, wine and listen to great live entertainment.

The team set up lawn games for guests to keep themselves entertained while the bridal couple snuck off for their couple shoot.

As the sunset, it got a little chilly where they handed out warm blankets to the guests to keep them snug and warm.

ECO-Friendly Wedding

Carrie and Jason’s entire wedding was eco-friendly and biodegradable, even their printed wedding stationery could be replanted back into the soil. The picnic catering, wedding cake, and donuts were all vegan friendly. The bridal couple is vegan so it was great that they incorporated their own needs for their wedding day and still ensured even their non-vegan guests were satisfied.

Advice for the brides-to-be

Please don’t wait for COVID to be over to plan your wedding. It is possible to have your dream wedding during lockdown. It is somewhat more special and romantic when you are a smaller group of wedding guests, it is all your nearest and dearest coming together to celebrate YOUR special day and this will also allow you to have more wedding budget for a honeymoon or better yet not go into debt to host a wedding of 150 pax than to rather enjoy your 50 guests debt-free.
