Rustic Inspiration is such a fun wedding theme! We just had to share this beautiful rustic wedding of Maggie and Grant with all of you! We totally love the way Maggie implemented Rustic Inspiration everywhere and how beautiful is her off-white dress? WOW!
1. Tell us how you met?
We met a few times at mutual friend’s braais and from there we ‘Facebook-stalked’ each other and started chatting and making plans to meet up. He made this lame excuse one time that nobody could go with him Christmas shopping and asked if I wanted to join him, we ended up only getting his one brother something. From there everything just blossomed!
2. How did he propose?
On our first day of vacation at Gonubie in East London, it was late afternoon and we had just arrived. All that was on our minds was getting to the ocean, so we quickly unpacked and headed down to the boardwalk. Grant had gotten my sisters in on the big surprise, they kept me busy while he wrote in the sea sand “Will you marry me?”. Once he was done he called me over from afar. As I got closer I saw some writing in the sand and I got this feeling that this was it… he is going to ask me to marry him! Luckily he got everything on video because the rest of it I can’t remember.
3. A short summary about you as a couple and about your wedding day
As a couple, we are comfortable with each other. We do not try to change our behaviour to please each other, this does cause arguments once in a while but we talk and compromise. We wanted a relaxed, casual and fun day, and that’s what we got! The rain was unexpected, but now we can’t imagine the day turning out better without it!
4. The number of guests that attended your wedding?
84 of our closest family and friends.
5. The wedding theme?
Rustic Inspiration with a bit of vintage. I didn’t want a rose in sight, I love Protea’s!!! and used that as my colour scheme.
6. Description of the wedding dress & designer + bridesmaids dresses:
I always wanted a non-traditional vintage wedding dress. It took a while to get the perfect dress, but once I saw my dress I just knew that this was it because of its Rustic Inspiration look! It was soft, comfortable and ooooh so pretty. With my bridesmaids’ dresses I gave them some freedom in choosing their dresses as long as they stuck to the theme of the wedding and the colours I had decided on, they also needed to be comfortable and be able to wear again afterwards.
7. The groom and groomsmen attire (designer + why you chose those suits):
Grant didn’t want to wear anything that would gather dust in the cupboard. We didn’t go for anything designer, we all met up at Edgars to buy the wedding outfits.
8. What was the most difficult/stressful aspect of planning your wedding?
The guest list and seating plan
9. Any advice for brides-to-be?
Planning, start early. Don’t leave anything to the last minute!
10. Anything else you would like to add?
Getting a dance instructor for your first dance is a must. We were relaxed and enjoyed every moment.
