Do you love nature? Would you love a forest themed wedding? We found a couple who answered YES to both of these questions, who decided to get married at Beloftebos
in Stanford! What a gorgeous way to celebrate love for each other and nature. This romantic venue is the ideal place to host your ceremony and reception. Ingrid and Craig’s wedding day was captured by Shantelle Visser Photography, and we asked the couple to share some thoughts on their big day. Here’s what they had to say:
What made you choose your venue?
While we were still dating, we found ourselves sitting in a coffee shop chatting about what our ideal wedding setting would be one day and in unison we both said that we dreamed of having a forest wedding. When our venue search began, we jumped onto Google and found Beloftebos – A ‘green chapel’ under the canopy of majestic age-old oak trees. It sounded so romantic and dreamy! When we saw it in person we instantly fell in love with all the venue had to offer and it was simply perfect for us.
What was the theme of your wedding?
Our wedding had an enchanted forest theme with the birds singing by day and hundreds of fairy lights and lanterns lighting up the forest by night. It was magical.
Tell us about your dress?
Just like I always knew that Craig was THE ONE, I also always knew what I had in mind for my dress. The only way to match the picture in my mind was to have it designed – A subtle mermaid style dress with a strapless sweetheart neckline, delicately beaded lace applique and a long train. I chose a beautiful ‘leafy’ lace and soft tulle to go along with our forest fairytale.
How did you pick your photographer?
This was a big one for us! After many hours of scrolling through countless wedding photographers’ portfolios, we finally came across the work of the talented Shantelle Visser at ‘The Wedding Expo’ held at the CTICC here in Cape Town. Her ability to capture those once in a lifetime moments so beautifully as they unfold, the unique layout and style of her coffee-table books and Shantelle’s bubbly yet professional, attentive nature is what made her stand out for us.
Where did you cut costs – what is a good saving tip?
We chose to have a small and intimate wedding and kept our stationery, flowers and favours simple, yet effective.
What was the most difficult part of the planning process?
Trying to keep our guest list short as well as deciding on a suitable timeline to follow on the day, were definitely the trickiest components of our planning process.
Did you do any DIYs?
Absolutely, and we had fun doing it! We designed, painted, cut and stuck things. To name a few, we made our own invites, favours, confetti cones and painted little birdhouses to match our colour scheme.
If you have always dreamed of a forest wedding, Beloftebos might be the perfect venue for you! The open spaces and greenery allow you to create a magical atmosphere exactly to your taste, and the surrounds provide stunning backdrops for photos.
