Ebony Blossom Styled Shoot at Penwarn Farm Lodge

Ebony Blossom Styled Shoot at Penwarn Farm Lodge

Wedding Theme Ideas

This shoot had so many talented local designers and artist, decor designers and ventures that love pretty and creative things. Emily Lockhart Weddings did all her homework and what she pulled together was amazing.

Wedding Venue and Wedding Photography

The team decided to do a shoot that was inspired by the burnt winter grasslands that were beginning to show the life of spring, with green shots popping through the surface and cherry blossom trees bursting into life. The Penwarn Farm Lodge venue was looking stunning with spectacular views of the Southern Drakensberg and winter dams shining in the sunlight. Kate Martens Photography was the women behind the camera and the photos you see here are just a few of the many amazing shots she took of the day.

Luxury Wedding Dresses

Sadie Bosworth Atelier designed two ethereal gowns. They were inspired by celestial elements and dreamy, old-world Fairy Tales. Each gown featured beadwork and embroidery details. They make you want to get married today, right? Sadie is an amazing dress designer and has such an incredible talent, it was a pleasure to have her dresses in this styled shoot.

Wedding Favours and Wedding Stationery

The wedding favours were French vanilla; black sesame & salted caramel macaroons, which made for a great finishing touch to the table settings. Wedding favours do not always have to be elaborate, expensive gifts for your guests. This trio of macarons added an extra dimension to the table setting while doubling up as the wedding favours – a win, win situation.

The wedding stationery was designed by Indigo and Ivory Designs, which complemented the theme so magically. The handcrafted golden edge agate designed stationery from menu & place cards to a softly marbled spring seating plan was the perfect small & impactful detailed additions. It really showed how stationary is so important on your wedding day and should not be overlooked.

Table ideas

The table décor, put together by Emily Lockhart Weddings, was inspired by the transition of Winter into Spring. She used a beautiful floral charcoal table runner as the starter canvas for the table to emulate the contrast of the cherry blossom trees against the burnt winter grasslands. She chose modern & varied vessels to place the roses; tulips & ranunculus into creating simple yet bold floral arrangements. A tasseled grass placemat added texture along with the modern gold & white cutlery & beautifully ribboned macaroon favours were the finishing touch to our Ebony Blossom styled table.

Modern Wedding Cake

The wedding cake baked by Cake Lab was a delicious, six-layer Butter & Blossom hand-painted design that added that something extra to the table. Decadent vanilla bean & caramel filling with a Swiss meringue buttercream frosting dusted with gold leaf and adorned with pretty pink florals. Your cake does not have to be a traditional design, you can play with this element of your wedding day.

Wedding Hair and Makeup

Hitched Hair and Makeup, those girls did a fantastic job making the models look flawless. It is so important to get the best hair and makeup artist for you and the two women at Hitched Hair and Makeup are exactly that. They listen to every detail and looked at the dresses to get the perfect makeup for the shoot.

The team that arrived at Penwarn Farm Lodge were keen and ready for the early morning wake up and the challenge of frostbit fingers and toes. Thank you for such a fun-filled team:
