What You Need For This Project:

  • 2 Pieces of Clear Perspex
  • Some leaves from your garden
  • A few nuts and bolts (4 pairs)
  • A white Sharpie or permanent marker
  • The Design you want, printed on a piece of paper

Preparing your materials:

Before you start, make sure that you print out a design that you would like to use as a template for your Save the Date. This will need to be printed in a mirror image on paper, which will be used for tracing.

For the perspex, you will need to drill in 4 holes in the corners on both sheets. They need to be in exactly the same spots on both sheets. Otherwise, you’ll end up with skew invites when you attach the nuts and bots. The nuts and bolts can be found at your local hardware store and they are cheap! (approx 65c)

The leaves you use for the decoration in-between the sheets can be any shape, type or colour! This means that this design can also work very well with fall leaves for an Autumn wedding. And you don’t have to limit yourself to using leaves. You can use anything thin and flat that will suit your wedding theme.

How to Do it Yourself:

The first step is to place your clear perspex sheet on top of your printed design. Then you take the white permanent marker and carefully trace the design directly onto the perspex. We recommend using the mirror image print for the tracing and then inverting the perspex sheet so that your drawing side is on the inside of the invite. This way it can’t scratch off.

Once you are done with the tracing, leave it for a bit to make sure it is completely dry. Then take the second sheet of perspex that you will be using as the base. Place this down and arrange your leaves on top. You can be creative here and arrange it however you like.

When you are happy with your arrangement, place the first sheet of perspex with your tracing on top. Now pop in the nuts and bolts and tie it together. And there you go! A stunning frameless perspex save the date invitation for your wedding!
