Bohemian Wedding Styled Shoot

We love Winter! We adore the rich, warm colours that come with the colder weather. For Winter Weddings, we move towards deeper and more intense colour palettes and luxurious textures to add character to the decor and styling. You can be much bolder when choosing your colour scheme and styling – think gold and bronze, burgundy, navy and emeralds – these are all colours that work great! For your inspiration, we have a gorgeous Bohemian Wedding Styled Shoot by LiBella Photography. We caught up with Lisa Bouwer from LiBella to find out what this shoot is all about.

Where did the inspiration for the shoot come from?

“I was chatting to Celeste Potgieter from Celeste Styled Events and she mentioned that styled shoots originated to give brides new and fresh ideas for their big day.  As I was in the thinking process of putting a styled shoot together these words just stuck and I knew that I had to incorporate a few different elements.  And what better way than to make decor elements yourself.  I also went with the exact opposite colour scheme you usually see at weddings.  It is as if people think having a darker wedding will make it less romantic.  I stayed away from pastels and decided that my colours would be dark red, burgundy, emerald green and touches of gold. And from those thinking points the bohemian wedding theme sort of just happened…”

How did you decide on and finalise the concept?

“I got chatting to Sureen Riekert from Mofam River Lodge and she was actually thinking of doing a shoot at the venue in the efforts to give their lodge a bit of a different edge. It just made sense to keep going with the boho vibe. Celeste Potgieter came up with all the beautiful decor elements on the table and even made the underplates herself! After Celeste was on board with styling the tables I could focus on finding the perfect bohemian wedding dresses, gowns, jewellery, models, cake, stationery and make-up artists to fit in with my theme.

I met up with the Owner of Wild Orchid Boutique in Paarl and spent a few hours there deciding on which outfits with which jewellery would work best with my theme. After that was done, I just had to finalise the cake and stationery designs.”
