Take a trip to magical Plettenberg Bay for this Beach Wedding inspiration by Estilo Photography. Nicola and Danie wed in a down to earth celebration filled with personal touches. The bride looked incredible in her elegant lace wedding dress while the bridesmaids stunned in their floor length dresses in a gorgeous blush colour resembling the 2016 Pantone Colour of the Year – Rose Quartz.
Where did you get your Ideas/Inspiration?
Keurbooms has some sort of charm and holds a special place in our hearts. Danie spent all of his childhood vacations there which is where the idea to get married there all began. We kept the look and feel of the wedding very laid-back and casual with a beach ceremony and reception at the riverside lodge of Emily Moon. We didn’t look at wedding magazines or “traditional inspiration” much as we wanted to keep our wedding true to who we are as a couple and not use secondhand ideas from other weddings.
Tell us about your Dress?
It was the second dress I tried on and I just knew it was an easy decision, it felt like me when I wore it. It didn’t have any frills or layers and I also loved the idea that I would be able to move in the dress (especially for photos and for the ceremony on the beach). I definitely believe that less is more and also kept my hair and make-up simple and feminine.
What made you choose your Venue?
It fitted in perfectly with our romantic theme – Emily Moon lends itself completely to this. There is a very beautiful story on the venue’s website that tells the legend of Emily Moon and how it is thought that she is still waiting for her long lost love to return to her. It is a magical place and the charm is tangible. The décor is rustic yet luxurious and we really wanted our guests to enjoy the entire weekend with us instead of rushing in and out. The rooms are 5-star and so is the food. Everyone had a lazy, late breakfast together on the Sunday morning after the wedding.
Where did your cut costs – What is a good saving tip?
We didn’t have a videographer due to personal choice and with our photographers, we knew we wouldn’t be missing out on any moments.
What was the most difficult part of the planning process?
Planning your wedding is exciting and can be a stressful process, but we were really decisive and knew what we wanted which made it a lot simpler. Less is definitely more. Logistics were sometimes challenging (getting all of our family and friends down to Plett at exactly the same time), but it can be managed, even without a wedding planner.
Did you do any DIY’s?
We put together our own favours, guest name cards, and stationery – it was nothing fancy but we thought that it really suited the theme of our wedding and had such a blast making them and thinking of each and every one of our friends or family while creating it.
