In June this year, one of our very on Pink Book family members tied the knot. Malindi and her varsity sweetheart, Stefano had a romantic intimate winter wedding in the Paarl valley. These two love birds shared their love story with us. And photographer, Chantel & May Photography, captured every special moment beautifully. Have a look at the stunning photos and get some inspiration for your own wedding day. Bride Malindi tells us more:
True Love and an Intimate Wedding Ceremony
A Sunny Winter’s Day in the Winelands
“We could not have asked for a better day. We chose the 1st of June because we both love winter and rain. So the warmer, sunny weather came as quite a surprise! A very good one, in retrospect. Apart from our families that did backflips for us to ensure everything is ready for the big day, my bridesmaids were just incredible. I am so lucky to call them my best friends and to have spent the day with them. I wouldn’t change it for the world. Renette, from Just Celebrate, was my coordinator – all I can say is that everyone needs a Renette on their wedding day!”
An Intimate Ceremony With 40 Guests
“We tied the knot at the beautiful Eben-Haezer Wedding & functions Wedding Venue in Paarl. This was a breathtaking setting for our guests to witness our love, and we couldn’t be happier. We wanted our day to be intimate. With only 40 guests, we were able to spend time with each and every one of our guests. We had friends and family from Pretoria, Dubai and Luxembourg fly down for the wedding and we have never felt so loved and special.
As I am reminiscing back, one thing I will always remember about the days leading up to the wedding is to what lengths our families went to help us. If it wasn’t for them, our day would not have been so perfect. Family is one of the most important, if not the most important thing in our lives. To everyone who came and celebrated our special day indicates that you are special and valued in any way. The love everyone showed us indicated that they cared.”
A DIY Wedding With Help From The Family
“We took the DIY route for most aspects of the wedding. My mom did the food, and the flowers, my mother-in-law did all the stationery. My aunty made delicious fudge and coconut ice as wedding favours for the guests. Our wedding cake was baked by my sister-in-law. Most of the decor was brought from home or borrowed from friends. It was a lot of hard work, but so worth it in the end. Memories that will stay with us all, forever.”
Words from the Photographer
“Oh, what a pleasure it was hearing from Malindi & Stefano, shortly after they got engaged. Through mutual friends & being in the same school, I have always witnessed the milestones from their relationship through the screen. And I kid you not, I was always thinking: “Man, I’d love to photograph them someday.”
I am extremely grateful to have been granted this amazing opportunity to document their special day. Out of it came some of my favourite images ever. I mean these two weren’t bothered about the nitty-gritty, they were so calm and in love. It was obvious that they wanted to really share this day with the people they loved. The whole day had a sense of peacefulness that I will appreciate for years to come.
When it came down to the whole look & style, I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I mean just look at the setting, the chapel, the couple & THAT dress. A photographers dream. Malindi looked straight out of a fantasy film. From the ceremony that had me in tears to laughing along, two loving people who obviously couldn’t take their eyes off each other. Everything was perfect.
Thank you again Malindi & Stefano!
A Candle-Lit Dinner & Music
We wanted to break the rules with our wedding – so we did a few things differently. From messy burgers for dinner, a Jukebox for music to 5 different wines representing the 5 years we have been together. We drove five of my mom’s mosaic artworks to the venue and put it up all around the reception area. All of the candles worked perfectly with the artworks on the walls and the greenery and orange roses on our tables. We couldn’t be thankful enough to entertainment by the talented Classic Music Events, SHOUT Music Company & Thalia and John Films and Music.
