Nestled in a tranquil valley on a working farm and perfectly blending in with its natural surroundings, Die Kalkoonde wedding venue is situated fourteen kilometres from Wellington and approximately one hour drive from Cape Town in the Western Cape.
This unique two hundred old restored limestone mine and factory, built out of raw stone and bricks, oozes rustic charm and understated elegance. The venue rises majestically out of the surrounding landscape and lends itself well to both Modern Castle opulence as well as Rural Farm Inspired weddings.
Popular options for the wedding ceremony are the Deck (100 guests) situated in front of the building and overlooking the picturesque dam or the Amphitheatre (150 guests), flanked by olive trees with a covered seating area. Both locations blend in perfectly with their natural environment and will ensure your guests a ‘gold circle’ seat on your special day. A wooden arch for the nuptials as well as a wooden stand for the marriage officer’s books are available for the ceremony.
The natural beauty of this location can be seen from both the Crusher room venue (80 guests with dance floor) and the Old Ovens venue (120 guests with dance floor). Both venues have spacious kitchens as well as doors opening out to uninterrupted vistas of the surrounding landscape, green in winter and gold in summer, and perfectly framed by the majestic blue Boland mountains in the distance.
In choosing Die Kalkoonde for your special day you are guaranteed the personal attention of the owner, who will strive to make all your wedding dreams come true. You can be assured of a perfectly unique and memorable experience for you and your guests.
