Caricatures
Mascher has a great way to entertain guests at weddings or events with his Caricatures in Cape Town. Peter Mascher was born in Rustenburg and grew up on Lutheran mission stations in the Brits and Rustenburg area. He matriculated at the Deutsche Schule in Pretoria and took a gap year in Israel. Here he worked on a kibbutz and travelled to Europe and Germany.
He studied Fine Arts at the Witwatersrand Technikon in Johannesburg and completed a year in graphic design at AAA School of Advertising in Rosebank he also started studies in Industrial design at Witwatersrand Technicon but got a job at Beeld Newspaper to draw the daily editorial cartoon and any other illustrations for the paper.
After three years at Beeld, he joined Stephen Klein Design Studio in Johannesburg for two years where he worked as a workshop manager, doing off the wall three-dimensional design commissions. After that, he worked as Citizen’s editorial cartoonist and also started drawing Daily Dispatch’s daily cartoon. He worked as an editorial cartoonist at several newspapers for ten years.

He is now based in Cape Town and does freelance caricature commissions for the corporate world and private clients. Marscher also provides entertainment as a live caricaturist at weddings, corporate functions, special events and celebrations like wedding anniversaries, milestone birthday’s, Bar Mitzvahs, markets and conferences across the country.
Marscher has published editorial cartoons in newspapers, magazines, published illustrations in a number of books and published two graphic novels with the author James Home: Hendrik Leerdam: Seereis na die Kaap en Hendrik Leerdam: Kaap van Storms.
He is also a carpenter and design and create custommade furniture for private and corporate clients. He lives in Melkbosstrand with his family.
