Samantha Norton at Peony and Pence, Johannesburg Wedding Stationery, is the owner and graphic designer. She has a BA in Creative Brand Communications at Vega School of Branding as well as a Certificate in Web Design from UCT Getsmarter.
She went on a few career paths, each of them teaching her valuable lessons and skills along the way. Until one day, she threw her arms in the air and thought that’s it she is doing this: “Peony and Pence is everything ME, romance and everything pretty”. A peony is known as the flower of riches and honour. With their colourful and circular bloom, peonies represent romance and prosperity as well as an omen of good fortune and a happy marriage.
A silver sixpence in the bride’s shoe is a tradition of good luck. It is the father of the bride who places the sixpence in her shoe as a symbol of him wishing her prosperity, love and happiness in her marriage.
