In 1974 Ismail Moosa opened the first Johannesburg Wedding Suits Khaliques shop at the Oriental Plaza. It is known as The Khaliques Suit Centre. The business focused on providing customers with traditional business wear, suits, shirts, shoes and accessories. Khaliques soon gained the reputation as the destination for Johannesburg grooms and businessmen.
At this time Ismail taught his sons about the value of hard work and a deep understanding of servicing and understanding of customer needs. In those days it was simple, “you get to know your customers and provide them with quality and value for money and they’ll come back – time and again.”
He taught them well. Today Khaliques is South Africa’s largest men’s suit retailer, with a focus on businessmen.
Ismail’s son and grandsons have built on his principles. Two additional stores were opened, in Sandown at the heart of busy Sandton and at Cedar Square in Fourways. All the stores carry collections of business as well as casual wear in elegant and spacious surroundings. Customers are attended to by knowledgeable staff and each store has a tailoring service to facilitate alterations or repairs.
38 Years later, the Khaliques brand continues to function on the principles of the founder, his legacy is alive and well. A symbol of style which has become an institution amongst savvy businessmen who know what they want.
If you speak to any of their friendly, knowledgeable sales staff, they will tell you that their customers come back time and time again, because of the value for money, style, variety and personalised service they get – including their in-house tailoring. They have experts on hand to measure, fit, and ensure that your new suit fits you perfectly.
Their expert team will ensure that your suit jacket fits your shoulders, arms and chest. Your suit pants will be tailored to your leg length, circumference and your waist. Every one of their customers leaves walking taller and with a spring in their step – that’s the Khaliques difference!
